The new Pinot Nero Alto Adige DOC Riserva of Cantina Tramin is called Marjon. It is produced with grapes coming from three adjacent areas, similar for the mainly calcareous composition of the land, but different in terms of altitude.

20% comes from Mazon, with an exposure of the vineyards to the west and an altitude of about 350 meters; 40% from Pinzon with vineyards located to the west and an altitude of about 450 meters and 40% from Glen, with exposure to the south / south-west and an altitude that reaches 650 meters above sea level. Marjon has a ruby color with garnet nuances. The aromas are fruity with hints of berries, plum, cherry and spicy notes of herbs. In the mouth soft tannins and a pleasant whiff of freshness immediately leads back to the altitude to which the vineyards are located, giving character and elegance at the same time. Fruity and juicy finish with evident spicy notes.

The name Marjon is due to the toponym indicating a detrital area overlooking the vineyards of Glen and Pinzon. A word that in turn derives from Marranea, or "fragments of gravel" in the ancient pre-Latin Indo-European language. And it is indeed the presence of a skeleton of calcareous origin that characterizes the underlying vineyards cultivated with Pinot Noir.

With Marjon, the range of wines from red grapes from Cantina Tramin is then enriched. If over the years the company has become famous for the olfactory expression of its white wines and in particular for its Gewürztraminer, its history is marked by important productions also of red wines. The winery we know today was born in fact from the merger in 1971 between Cantina Tramin (born in 1898) and the Cantina di Egna (founded in 1893, the year of birth of the first cooperative wineries in Alto Adige), in whose surroundings are located Mazon, Pinzon and Glen.
