Vintage Description: Mild spring temperatures brought on an early start of the vegetation period. The summer months were exceptionally sunny and dry. However, cool nights still allowed for the balanced development of physiological ripeness. Thanks to a cool September, maturation slowed, resulting in an excellent harvest of optimally mature grapes. Our elegant white wines show marked juiciness, depth and manifold aromas; the red wines are fruity, intense and full of character. Grapes: Lagrein Vineyards: The grapes for this Lagrein come from vineyards planted in the areas of Enga and Ora, some of which are sites that have been planted for more than 100 years. Characterized by the presence of warm soils, moderated by cool nights, this microclimate ensures excellent balance between ripeness and brisk acidity. Yield: 50 hl/hectare Subzone: Villa / Egna, Ora Winemaking: After gentle pressing, the must is fermented at controlled temperatures in oak barrels. Malolactic fermentation occurs in small French barriques and the wine is then racked to larger oak barrels for further aging. Bottled after 14 months, Urban Lagrein is stored in bottles for another year prior to commercial release. Tasting Notes: Urban is our best Lagrein, a wine characterized by its dark purple hue and an intense bouquet of wild berries. Full-bodied and robust on the palate, this is a strongly structured wine.
