Nero d'Avola is the expression of a particular native vine of Sicily. For centuries it has been of fundamental importance in the production of many Sicilian wines, although its use as a blending wine prevails. And it is only from the 70s of the last century that serious experimentation on this vine finally began, in order to study and enhance it. This wine, today, is defined as the prince of Sicilian vines.

Grapes: Nero d'Avola 100%.

Production area: Western Sicily.

Training and pruning: Counter-espalier, with Guyot pruning.

Altitude: 300 m. above sea level

Planting density: 4500 plants per hectare.

Yield: 95 quintals per hectare.

Harvest period: September.

Fermentation: In steel.

Aging: In steel, six months in 3000 liter barrels

TASTING NOTES

It has an intense ruby ​​red color, with violet reflections, the aroma is complex, with notes of dried plum, cherry, blackberry, blackcurrant, and raspberry.

The scent is enveloping, fruity with morello cherry and raspberry, pleasantly balanced.

The flavor is rich, broad and velvety, with great structure and aromatic persistence, with typical austere but gentle tannins.

HOW IT COMBINED

Particularly suitable for red meat dishes and some medium-aged cheeses, it pairs well with succulent first courses.
