DARE, A FAMILY FEATURE

Dare what is new. Get off the beaten path. Cultivating the spirit of the House created in 1985 by his father Alain of which the guides Garance and Stanislas Thiénot are today the custodians. For several years together they have contributed to its development with their dynamism. Each with their own sensitivity and background, they unite horizons that seem distant, open spaces for dialogue and create agreements where there are none yet. Through their contemporary gaze, they innovate and dare with the complicity of their cellar master.

This creative vision transmitted by Alain influences and nourishes the work of the Thiénot family. For almost 20 years, as a broker, he traveled the slopes of Champagne, selected the best grapes for the centuries-old Grandes Maisons and, year after year, refined his knowledge of the vineyard. A story of family sharing with deep roots, Alain's father managed Irroy champagne and his grandfather, a glassmaker, created the precious bottles. This is how Alain created wines that resemble him, that translate everything he loves: the finesse of elegant freshness and a construction of balanced nuances.

AN OVERALL FAMILY
The sustainability of this style is today guaranteed by Nicolas Uriel, director of the cellar since 2017. With his dual experience as an agronomist and oenologist, Nicolas joined the family in 2008 to manage supplies to the winemakers. Now he makes winemaking decisions, composes all the vintages and monitors stocks and production. A strategic position within all the Maisons, and even more so for Thiénot Champagne, whose own offering is over 50%, and comes from premier and grand crus located on the historic hills of Champagne.

Thiénot blending requires precise knowledge of each wine and memorization of the potential harmony provided by the reserve wines. It also relies on Nicolas' ability to precisely manage the wide range of possibilities – crus, grape varieties, vintages, etc. – to extract the essence, the soul of champagne.
A meticulous work of alchemical research, carried out under the watchful eye and attentive palates of the family.

THE EARTH,
THE INSTRUMENTS,
THE HOUSE
Scouring the hills in search of the best, Alain Thiénot has built a substantial 30-hectare vineyard of grands crus in the great historic valley of Aÿ and in the Côte des Blancs and premier crus in Dizy and Cumières and on the Coteaux as far south as Epernay. Precious resources that provide more than half of the grape needs, guarantees of autonomy and sustainability for an independent family business.

Perpetuating the identity of Thiénot Champagne involves preserving the aromatic clarity of the wines. From the beginning, to protect the integrity of the fruit, Alain Thiénot decided to equip his production site with a thermoregulated stainless steel vat room, an obvious choice but which at the time demonstrated his innovative vision and his expertise. . Rue des Moissons, a unique location in the center of Reims, hosts the historic headquarters of the Maison. Stanislas and Garance sometimes welcome customers into the kitchen with ease and invite them to share the family cuisine. Away from the enthusiastic conversations, in the basement, two kilometers of cellars house the precious bottles that age on staves, up to 16 years for the vintages.
