A Special Edition - The Art of Assemblage

For this tribute to Jean-Michel Basquiat and his works, Dom Pérignon has chosen a masterpiece as significant as it is enigmatic by the New York artist: "In Italian" (1983).

In Basquiat's work, as in Dom Pérignon's vision, assemblage is a key element to live an intense aesthetic experience. This would not be possible without the utmost attention to the material, since both the narrative material, at the origin of the story that one wants to tell, and the raw material needed to express it, with all its organoleptic and aesthetic characteristics, are decisive for the character of the final work. A collage of art and craftsmanship, which make this Champagne Dom Pérignon Special Edition a unique experience.

The series includes three different boxes, each depicting a part of Basquiat's painting, which can be recomposed by joining the boxes together. The design was conceived following this assembly principle, dear to both Dom Pérignon and Basquiat.

To further reinforce the sense of the encounter between Dom Pérignon and Basquiat, each of the three parts of the work was studied in its components so that the name and the emblem of the Maison were harmoniously inscribed on the packaging within the fields of color of the painting, maximizing the sophisticated interplay between shapes and lines.

A true seal of this tribute, the label of the bottles, also produced in three color variations, features the hybrid emblem of the three-pointed crown typical of Basquiat's works superimposed on the shield.

2015: GENEROSITY AND BALANCE

The 2015 winegrowing year was marked by striking contrasts in climate, starting with a particularly cold spring, followed by a prolonged period of hot, dry weather that lasted until the end of August. When the harvest began on 7 September, in brilliant sunshine, the vines were impeccably healthy, revealing the exceptional generosity and balance of the grapes. This vintage aromatic wine promises a remarkable aromatic richness, capturing the unique essence of the year.

AN UNWAVERING PRESENCE

Born of a year of exceptional contrasts, Dom Pérignon Vintage 2015 stands out with its soothing strength and striking tactile presence during tasting. Initially dark and enigmatic, this vintage wine reveals a texture that leaves an incomparable impression, offering a unique sensory experience. The structure of Dom Pérignon 2015 feels horizontal, broad and straight, reflecting the wine’s luminous austerity. Each mouthful covers the palate, making an impression with clear, clean flavours, drawn in straight lines rather than curves. This structured concept is Dom Pérignon’s authentic signature, in which the sense of touch becomes fundamental. Without this tactile dimension, the flavour of the wine could not fully unfold in the space and time of its tasting, mirroring the space and time of its production.
