List of products by brand EL RON PROHIBIDO

“El Ron Prohibido” has its roots in the 18th century, when Spanish ships arriving in America loaded with wine reserves, instead of returning to Spain with empty barrels, began to fill the barrels with “Chinguirito”, or Mexican rum. The demand for “Chinguirito”, enriched by the sweet notes released by the wood of the barrels, became so high that the King of Spain, Philip V of Bourbon, was forced to ban its production, in order to protect the internal trade of Spanish spirits and to limit the disastrous effects caused to society by excessive drinking. This was the reason why Mexican “Chinguirito” was prohibited from 1700 to 1796. “El ron Prohibido” is no longer prohibited and today identifies an original Rum, which comes back to light in its original recipe, for the lucky fans of real Mexican rum.
