Hendrick’s Amazzonia was revealed during the TFWA World Exhibition & Conference in Cannes, France, on Monday (30 September).

It was inspired by master distiller Lesley Gracie’s travels to the Venezuelan Amazon rainforest in 2013, when she spent three weeks with a local tribe to learn about the rare plants and fruits that can be found in this part of the world.

Hendrick’s Amazonia is based on the original Hendrick’s gin recipe, with its signature cucumber and rose botanicals, but with the addition of Amazon flora.

Bottled at 43.4% ABV, Hendrick’s Amazonia is said to be a “bright and tropical” gin. It will be available to purchase in global travel retail from March 2020.

Gracie said: “I have always had a profound love for nature and a fascination with the wondrous botanicals and essences of the world.

“A number of years ago, I embarked on the adventure of a lifetime when I travelled to the Venezuelan rainforest, where I had the opportunity to explore and experiment with the local exotic eco-system.

“It was this unique and inspiring experience, which motivated me to create Hendrick’s Amazonia.”

To support the launch, Hendrick’s has partnered with global environmental organisation One Tree Planted, which works to support reforestation efforts in the Amazon rainforest.

For every bottle of Hendrick’s Amazonia purchased, One Tree Planted will plant a tree in Peru on the brand’s behalf.
