The Shed Distillery is located in Drumshanbo, in Western Ireland, in a rural and unspoiled area. The curious mind of PJ Rigney chose this area precisely because it is isolated, an ideal environment to experience the union of exotic and local botanicals, inspired by the most ancient oriental traditions of distillation. Thus was born what is now a beloved gin in many countries of the world, Gunpowder Irish Gin. This story is symbolized by the logo depicting the "jackalope", a legendary creature that appears in Drumshanbo when it wants, as in a dream, and which is the union between two imaginary animals from two distant cultures, the jackrabbit and the American antelope.

Gunpowder Irish Gin is produced through the artisanal distillation in a medieval copper still of classic botanicals combined with the steam infusion of citrus fruits and Gunpowder Tea, which gives the gin its name. It is a green tea of ​​Chinese origin whose leaves are dried slowly and then rolled into sparkling balls that resemble gunpowder (gunpowder in English). The taste is fresh and bitter with a light spicy note that goes well with the hints of juniper and citrus.

PJ Rigney has never stopped traveling and the idea for his first variant of Gunpowder Gin came to him in Italy, to be precise in Siniscola, a small town in Sardinia on the Mediterranean coast of the Tyrrhenian Sea. Here he discovered a particular local citrus which is called Citrus monstruosa, but the Sardinians call it Sa Pompia. A distant relative of orange and grapefruit, it resembles a large lumpy lemon and the distiller immediately thought it was perfect in its Gunpowder. Thus was born Gunpowder Sardinian Citrus Gin, from the happy union of Irish gin with an oriental touch and Italian citrus. In Sardinia citrus fruits are traditionally celebrated, for example in the city of Muravera the picturesque Citrus Festival takes place every year where, between tastings and concerts, people dressed up as hairy horned animals parade, in memory of the ancient pagan rites of the island's farmers.
