For over 40 years, wine has accompanied the story of Giuseppe Sedilesu, his family and their deep connection with the land. It is a story of winemakers, of their passion, which has its roots in tradition, experience and the protection of their territory as a common good. In the 1970s, the purchase of the first hectare of vineyard in Mamoiada, a town in Barbagia in the centre of Sardinia, located at about 650 m above sea level.

Currently, the winery is managed by Salvatore Sedilesu and his family, who with dedication and perseverance try every day to enhance the winery. The Giuseppe Sedilesu winery is an active part of the Mamojà association, which aims to enhance, promote and preserve the territory through wine; it is part of the Strada del Vino Cannonau and the first Sardinian wine tourism network.

Mamoiada is a town of 2600 inhabitants located in the heart of Barbagia, at the foot of Gennargentu and Supramonte. Its territory is hilly, with an average altitude of 736 meters above sea level. The main production activity is viticulture. The winery is located in the town of Mamoiada and the vineyards in its countryside.

The company has 15 hectares of Cannonau vineyards in the countryside of Mamoiada, and small areas of a rare white grape variety, Granazza, both grown as saplings. This territory is recognized as highly suited to the cultivation of these vines. The production philosophy of the company is to cultivate the vineyards with full respect for the land and the environment, following the course of nature.

The vines only use the natural water reserves of the soil. Moderate water stress encourages the synthesis of valuable substances such as polyphenolic ones. We promote soil sustainability by applying the least amount of mechanical work. We use one or two green manures per year, which, together with pruning material and exhausted grape marc, return organic and mineral substances to the soil.

The harvest is manual: in the cellar, a careful selection of the bunches takes place on the conveyor belt; those considered suitable, pass into the destemmer-crusher which removes the stalks and delicately presses the grapes. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentations occur spontaneously, conducted by the indigenous and autochthonous microflora that is naturally found in grapes.

The vineyards are located on agricultural land that originated from granite disintegration. This combination of origin, exposure of the land and microclimate in which the vineyards are grown, is accompanied by the passion that the Sedilesu family puts into the production of their wines.
