At the end of the 19th century and in the midst of the Victorian era, the great British Empire, immersed in a colonial struggle throughout Africa, already dominated maritime communications, trade routes and most of the traffic of goods between East and West. The search for new routes created a caste of intrepid explorers who led them to discover remote and unknown places.

The most important of these was the coastal city of Mombasa, located opposite the island of Zanzibar, which, due to its strategic position, soon became the main port and commercial centre of all East Africa.

And it was here that the first private social club was created; the legendary Mombasa Club, founded in 1885 by and for officers of the British East Africa Protectorate. The club was an essential part of the social life of the Colony, where its members held lively gatherings or exchanged news around their Mombasa Club gins & tonics. An exclusive gin from England, specially distilled and bottled for the consumption and enjoyment of its members.

Today, Mombasa Club Gin remains a nostalgic reminder of the spirit of those romantic pioneer adventurers of the glorious and epic English colonialism of the 19th century.

Mombasa Club is a very recent Premium gin, London Dry type with 41.5% alc./vol., despite its formula dating back to the end of the 19th century.
