Alcohol content: 14.5%
Rio Sordo is a long ridge with homogeneous exposure to the South-West, located in the southern part of the municipality of Barbaresco, between the Tre Stelle hamlet and the Pora hill.
With a maximum altitude of 250 meters above sea level, it is the lowest cru of the Produttori and not far from the Tanaro river. The soil is clayey-calcareous, as in the rest of the Barbaresco area, with medium-low percentages of calcium that give the wines non-dominant and silky tannins. The fruit is elegant, but the wine has structure and is able to age for many years.
Once known as Rivosordo, it was already present in the map compiled by Domizio Cavazza in 1894 among the prestigious vineyards of Barbaresco, but it was the last born among the Riserve dei Produttori, bottled for the first time in 1978.
