Barolo DOCG Margheria draws much of its character from the calcareous soil, with a slightly higher percentage of sand than our other sub-zones. Produced for the first time in 1985, like the great Barolos of Serralunga, it has great aging potential.

Produced with Nebbiolo grapes from our vineyard located in the Me.G.A. “Margheria” in Serralunga d’Alba.

Altitude: 280 m above sea level

Total area: 1.5 hectares.

Type of soil: calcareous with a small percentage of sand.

Average age of the vines: 40 years.

First year of production: 1985.

Vinification and aging: Traditional Barolo with long-term fermentation and maceration in oak vats at a temperature of around 30°C; aged in large Slavonian oak barrels for up to 30 months and refined in the bottle for about a year in special cool and dark rooms.

Notes: fantastic vineyard that combines the power of our lands with the elegance and harmony resulting from the sandy percentage of the soil. Traditional vinification and aging are the natural complement to the extraordinary characteristics of the grapes.

Tasting characteristics

Appearance: intense garnet red.

Nose: ethereal aromas with predominant notes of spices, tobacco and undergrowth;

important mineral notes should also be highlighted.

On the palate: classic wine, with good harmony, tannic when young and with

considerable aging potential that make it an unmistakable “Nebbiolo di Serralunga”. It is advisable to decant it and drink it at a temperature of 18-20°C.

An important wine that contains the entire history of our land and expresses its qualities at its best when accompanied by rich dishes, such as roast red meat or stewed game. Also excellent with medium and long-aged cheeses.
