When in 1913 Antonio Longanesi (1854/1934) bought the property, in a "roccolo" (wooded area at the edge of the funds where hunting was carried out from the shed to the step birds) was found an old vine, clinging to an oak tree. It was used as a lure for birds. Given the rusticity of the plant and the remarkable resistance to fungal diseases of clusters made up of small, thick-skinned grapes, the family tried to produce wine at home, like all farmers in the area. In awe, a good 14th product was obtained, which had considerable success even among friends, favoring the spread of the vine in the area. In 1956 it was decided to plant the first Longanesi grape vineyard, above all to increase the alcohol content of the other vines present on the farm (Uva d'Ora and Canina).

To his nephews Antonio (1921) and Pietro (1931/1999) who sensed his potential, the merit of having saved and spread the vine.

The isoenzymatic analyzes performed at the Experimental Institute for Viticulture in Conegliano Veneto (see table 1) and the DNA analyzes carried out at the Agricultural Institute of San Michele all'Adige (see table 2) confirm that this vine does not resemble any other so far known. In the '70s he tried to regularize the vine through the University of Bologna, but it did not go well. After a long bureaucratic process, finally in 1999 he was registered in the register of vineyards with the number 357 as Longanesi Grape ( in honor of the family that saved it) and from the 2007 harvest can boast the attribute IGT (typical geographical indication).
