Denomination: Barolo D.O.C.G.

Variety: 100% Nebbiolo

Vinification: Grapes from small but very important vineyards scattered in the various municipalities of the Barolo area, with the age of the vines between 10 and 43 years. The soil is calcareous-clayey and the Guyot training system with an average density of about 4,500 plants per hectare. All the individual crus are vinified and aged separately, in different ways in order to individually enhance the typical characteristics of each "terroir".

Aging: after about 30 months of aging in barriques and large casks, all crus are vinified individually and then assembled before bottling.

Description: Medium intensity ruby red color. The nose is explosive, opulent, persuasive and immediate. There are hints of plum, ripe red and black cherry, blackberry, black cherry, rose petal, tobacco. On the palate it is classic, rich, powerful, with notes of alpine herbs and a leather finish. The tannin is already well integrated.

“Barolo Castiglione 2017 is a wild and exotic wine. Super ripe red cherry, kirsch, cinnamon, tobacco, new leather and rose petal materialize in this large and voluptuous Barolo by Vietti. 2017 is a wine of considerable weight hidden behind a wall of tannin. Give it a few years to soften or open it well in advance. Time brings out a surprising finesse and elegance. "

(A. Galloni, February 2021)

Pairings: Stew, game, red meats and cheeses.
