The wine
Nozzole is the modern expression of pure Sangiovese in the Chianti Classico DOCG denomination of the Tenuta di Nozzole where, in a unique ecosystem of Mediterranean scrub, in the hills of Greve in Chianti, it reveals itself in all its potential and elegance.
The 2021 vintage has a cheerful ruby red appearance, a floral nose of purple rose and aromatic herbs. In the mouth it offers a great sensorial orchestra directed by an austere but pleasant tannin.

The territory
Greve in Chianti is the northernmost sub-area of Chianti Classico on the border with Florence. Crossed from north to south by the Greve river, one of the three rivers of the Chianti Classico, it is characterized by soils rich in clay and marl and a continental climate. These pedoclimatic aspects characterize the production of Chianti Classico from Tenuta di Nozzole in its power and elegance.

The Vineyards
Sangiovese is the absolute protagonist of the Tenuta di Nozzole, where, in a unique ecosystem of Mediterranean scrub, it expresses all its potential. Used in purity in the vintage, reserve and grand selection versions, it is matured in small toasted wood and in large seasoned oak barrels, a symbol of the Tuscan tradition, depending on the winemaking project. The Sangiovese is flanked by a Chardonnay vineyard called Le Bruniche where the estate's white wine is produced and two historic Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards for the production of the Supertuscan Il Pareto.

The Estate
A farm dating back to 1300 with 385 hectares of land of which approximately 90 are specialized vineyards and 15 olive groves, was purchased by the Folonari family in 1971. The Villa di Nozzole is located at the top of the hill which rises from 150 meters to approximately 300 meters above sea level. sea ​​level. The large barrique cellar and the vault of historical vintages are two architectural exclusivity of the Estate which offers the possibility of taking guided tours and tastings of all the wines of Tenute Folonari.

Tenuta di Nozzole wines
The Chianti Classicos from Tenuta di Nozzole are all produced with pure Sangiovese from the estate and differ in the different use of maturing wood. Nozzole is a modern Chianti Classico, La Forra is the historic Riserva produced since 1980 with an international style and Giovanni Folonari Gran Selezione a small production born in 2013 strongly supported by the president and his interpretation of the version of Chianti Classico more linked to tradition.
