The Nebbiolo grapes used to produce this wine ripen on the steep slopes of the Valtellina Superiore sub-area called Grumello, north-east of Sondrio, whose name comes from the 13th century castle that dominates the valley. Of a ruby red tending towards garnet, the Grumello, aged six months in third passage French barriques and thirty months in large native chestnut barrels, expresses the peculiarities of its grape variety with resolute elegance. The scent is subtle and intense, with nuances reminiscent of toasted almonds. In the mouth it is fresh, slender, slightly tannic, savory and harmonious. Of magnificent essentiality, this wine ideally accompanies traditional local dishes.
