CHARACTERISTICS
Grapes: Piedirosso (locally called pere e' palummo) 50% and Aglianico 50%
Production areas and municipalities: Furore and neighboring municipalities
Exposure and altitude: Coastal terraces at 200/550 meters above sea level facing south
Soil type: Dolomite-limestone rocks
Training system: Pergola and/or atypical rays, espalier
Planting density: 5000-7000 vines per hectare
Yield per hectare at the grape harvest: About 60 quintals per hectare (1.3 kg per vine)
Harvest period: Third ten days of October Manual harvesting
Winemaking technique: The manually harvested grapes arrive in the cellar intact, after destemming and pressing they are subjected to fermentation with maceration lasting 12 days with subsequent malolactic fermentation and processing in second passage French oak barriques.
Pre-bottling maturation method and duration: 6 months in second passage French oak barriques.
Organoleptic characteristics: Red color with ruby reflections, characteristic aroma of ripe cherry liquorice. Soft flavour, characterized by a pleasant base of spicy notes
