Grape variety: Sangiovese - Syrah - Alicante bouschet

It is a distinctive wine produced in a region famous for its blends of Super-Tuscans and Bordeaux varieties. The native Sangiovese is mixed with Syrah and Alicante, giving life to a “Super-Med” that enhances the winemaking tradition of the Mediterranean basin. The name “Aragone” refers to the Aragonese of Spain, who dominated Maremma in the 16th century.

Winemaking:

The grapes are rigorously selected in the vineyard, hand-picked separately for each variety in crates during the coolest hours of the day, crushed and destemmed and fermented in open 500-liter tonneaux, placed vertically. After the spontaneous start of fermentation (indigenous yeasts), the temperature rises to a maximum of 29 - 30 °C. Maceration on the skins is managed with daily punching operations and lasts about 30 days. After racking, the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks, and then returns to refine, for at least 24 months, in the same French oak tonneaux in which it fermented. This is followed by assembly, stabilization and bottling operations.

Tasting Notes:

The color is ruby ​​red with brilliant garnet reflections; a rich and complex aroma, with notes of morello cherry and other small red fruits in alcohol, elegant spicy hints and ethereal suggestions of dried tobacco. Great taste structure, long, persistent and round tannins, enlivened by a surprising acidity and a savoury and mineral finish.
