Variety: 100% Nebbiolo
Grapes from the MGA “Lazzarito” in the municipality of Serralunga d’Alba: a fabulous amphitheater plot with south-west exposure. The soil is calcareous-clayey, at an altitude between 330 and 380 m. above sea level. The average age of the vines is about 45 years, cultivated with Guyot, with a density of about 4,500 plants per hectare.
Vinification: alcoholic fermentation lasts about 3 weeks in steel tanks in contact with the skins with regular pumping over. This time includes pre- and post-fermentation cold maceration which occurs with the use of the traditional submerged cap method. Malolactic fermentation is carried out in wood. Aged for about 30 months in large barrels.
Description: intense ruby red color, with garnet reflections. Fascinating and deep on the nose. Balsamic hints of sage, eucalyptus, wild mint and white pepper are perceived. On the palate it is robust, muscular, with a taut and mineral finish. The tannin is typical of Serralunga, angular, austere and very deep. The sweet persistence on the finish is pleasant.
