THE DIFFERENCES THAT MAKE THE DIFFERENCE

Trelawny, the area where the distillery is located, historically represents the grand cru of rum
jamaican and is characterized by an incredible biodiversity.
The distillery is just a few miles from the Cockpit Country, an unspoiled area where
there are as many as 26 native species of birds and the last crocodiles of Jamaica.

Founded in 1753, Hampden is today probably the best distillery in the world and we base this affirmation on 6 objective and fundamental considerations:

1. Use of your own spring water in the various production phases.
2. Prolonged fermentation and with the use of wild yeasts.
3. Distillation exclusively in pot still.
4. Production follows techniques in use since the 18th century which determine a high
value of esters and that give the product a unique aromatic profile
5. Tropical aging; both references distributed by Velier are
aged more than 7 years in Jamaica, which is equivalent to an aging of about 25
years in Europe.
6. Natural color and no added sugar in the rum.

it ages for 8 years in the tropical climate of the island, equivalent to almost 25 years of maturation in the European climate.
