Elixir Sambuca Poli

Sambuca is a sweet liqueur based on star anise (Illicium Verum). It falls into the category of refreshing liqueurs of Mediterranean origin, which include Greek Ouzo, Turkish Raki, Spanish Anis, French Pastis and Arak from the Near East.

The difference between Sambuca and Anise liqueur (or Mistrà) is due to the presence of sugar: it must contain at least 350g of sugar per litre and must have a minimum alcohol content of 38%. Vol.

At Poli Distilleries Sambuca was produced from the post-war period until the 1980s.

Today Poli Elisir Sambuca is colourless, dense, velvety, with an intense anise aroma and particularly sweet in the mouth.

It can be drunk neat, on the rocks, with a ‘fly’ (a coffee bean), as a correction for coffee, flambéed or in cocktails.

We also suggest trying it in the ‘rasentin’, a pleasant ritual that consists of ‘rasentare’ (rinsing in the Venetian language) the cup with a few drops of Elisir Sambuca after drinking a good espresso.
