The triple sec is a transparent liqueur flavored with orange, like Cointreau. It was produced for the first time in France in 1834 by Jean Baptiste Combier in Saumur. Essential element in many cocktails, the triple sec is made with Haiti orange peels dried in the sun and then immersed in alcohol for twenty-four hours. The infusion thus obtained is filtered and subsequently distilled. Distillation takes place in copper stills.
