Padova, 1845.
The pastry chef Gian Battista Pezziol is struck by a sudden stroke of genius; still does not know, but is about to give life to that myth called VOV. But let's go with order. Il Pezziol is an artist of the production of nougat, which requires the use of hundreds of egg whites every day; not all yolks, though - alas! - they are used in confectionery, and, despite being sold to local families, there is always a good surplus dose. The product is delicate, and at the time impossible to preserve. What to do? Gian Battista Pezziol decides to use the yolks mixing them with Marsala, sugar and a lot of LOVE, to create a liqueur with a simple and genuine recipe, which he will call "Vovi" (that is "eggs", in Venetian dialect). Soon the liqueur became a hit, crossed the Venetian borders, and changed its name: VOV. Even today, wherever it is pronounced, the name is synonymous with egg liqueur. Already in 1856, at the time of Francesco Giuseppe I and Princess Elisabeth of Wittelsbach (the well-known and beautiful Sissi), VOV conquered ranks of aficionados, and collected innumerable prizes, also obtaining the solemn patent with the two-headed eagle from the Archdukes of 'Austria. Subsequently VOV becomes undisputed protagonist in bars and clubs, while it replaces the traditional beaten egg in houses, thanks to the practicality of the product with its captivating taste. It is already a legend. It is already a legend. When the Second World War broke out, due to its recognized energizing properties, it was supplied to the troops with the name "VAV2" - an acronym for "Vino Alimento Vigoroso" - bottled in pressed and vitrified cardboard inside, to make transport easier. It reaches its maximum spread at the turn of the 60s and 70s, a period in which numerous imitations sprout. But nobody is like him. "One VOV!", A legendary Jamaican musician would say.
