HISTORY
With his company founded in 1880 in Ibiza, the Marí Mayans family has since been dedicated to the research of aromatic plants and the elaboration of liqueurs. From the historical collection of ancient formulas and recipes and from the intensive study of the effects and benefits of aromatic plants, the “hierbas ibicencas” are born, a traditional drink to be enjoyed in a cognac glass or small glass, to finish a lunch or dinner. In Ibiza and Formentera they are the shot that is normally offered everywhere. Currently they are also used in the field of mixology.

METHOD OF PRODUCTION
Hierbas Marì Mayans is obtained from an infusion of 18 herbs in alcohol distilled in a batch still and, with the addition of 160 g / l of sugar. Anise, thyme, rosemary, lemon peel, orange peel, juniper and mountain mint are the known herbs, the rest are a well-kept secret. Familia Marí Mayans is a Spanish company from the Balearic Islands specializing in the production of high quality liqueurs. For over 130 years, the brand has been offering great traditional recipes such as Hierbas Ibicencas, which highlight local herbs.

HOW I DRINK IT
To be enjoyed in a tasting glass or shot glass to conclude a lunch or dinner. It is the most popular digestive in Ibiza and Formentera. Today, with the evolution of tradition, it is becoming more and more popular in cocktails and as an ingredient in thirst-quenching long drinks.

In 1997, the Geographical Indication Hierbas Ibicencas was approved: this made it possible to protect the geographical name, to avoid unfair competition and to guarantee the quality of the product.
