TYPICAL SWEET WINE - PERFECT ACCOMPANIED TO CHESTNUTS.

La Cagnina, not to be confused with Canina, an autochthonous vine cultivated in the Ravennate, probably comes from Istria, transplanted in the Byzantine era when large loads of limestone came from Dalmatia to build the impressive monuments of Ravenna.

It is probably the Refosco vine, identifiable by its characteristic red peduncle, locally called Terrano.

His funny name seems to derive from the fact that the dogs, who followed the peasants to work in the vineyards, liked to nibble the particularly sugary bunches.
