The wine
The result of a double harvest, first on the vine and then in the vinsantaia, the Vin Santo del Chianti Classico DOC from Tenuta di Nozzole is a passito wine that surprises for its enogenic rarity. After harvesting, the Trebbiano and Malvasia grapes are hung in the vinsantaia, where they dry, concentrating the sugars, reducing the wine yield. Subsequently, the vinification and maturation take place in small oak barrels for at least 24 months. The result is a passito wine with an extraordinary taste-olfactory spectrum.

Production Area: produced with grapes from our Tenuta di Nozzole in the municipality of Greve in Chianti
Altitude: from 300 meters above sea level
The grapes
Grape varieties: Predominantly Trebbiano and Malvasia
Planting density: 2,800 vines per hectare
Production per hectare: approximately 7 t. of grapes
Yield of dried grapes in wine: approximately 30%
In the basement
Harvest and Drying: after a dry August, with only 9 mm of rainfall, followed by a spring-summer period with excellent ripening conditions, the grapes were harvested in the first ten days of September in perfect health and left to dry hanging in the historic fruit maker of the Villa di Nozzole
Vinification: upon reaching the desired degree of drying (December-January) the grapes are again "harvested" and vinified with soft pressing and very slow winter fermentation in oak barrels
Maturation: 7 years in barriques during which periodic decanting is carried out to reach natural clarity
Refinement: minimum 3 months in bottle. Bottled without clarification and filtration interventions
