The Tornatore winery has an ancient history, which has its roots in the distant 1865 in Castiglione di Sicilia. In 1910 Giuseppe Tornatore, grandfather of the current owner, built a house in the Piano Fiera district, with 2 hectares of vineyard, to which were later added a further 2 hectares in the Piano Felci district, all exposed on the northern side of Etna.

The Tornatore winery stands on volcanic soil and enjoys a mild climate, favored by the presence of the Nebrodi mountains. The combination of these two elements with the expertise of the winemakers make the northern side of Etna an ideal territory for the production of very high quality, particular and unique wines.

The Tornatore winery vineyard extends for 46 hectares: it is the largest within the Etna Doc production area, with an altitude that varies from 550 to 700 m above sea level. The system chosen for the cultivation is a single cordon with 3 or 4 spurs. The vines grown are the native Sicilian ones foreseen by the production regulations of Etna wines, in particular Nerello Mascalese and Nero Cappuccio among the reds; Carricante and Catarratto among the whites.
