The wine
From the sunniest segment of the vineyard, from the innovative spirit of the Antinori family, from one of the areas of Cortona most suited to the cultivation of quality Syrah, Bramasole is born, a wine capable of evolving over time and telling, according to a new variety, a territory with ancient winemaking tradition. The first vintage of Bramasole produced was 2000.

Vinification
Upon arrival in the cellar, the grapes were destemmed and softly pressed. The must was transferred to stainless steel tanks where alcoholic fermentation took place at a controlled temperature of 28°C. The maceration lasted for about 15 days and was managed with soft mechanical interventions aimed at extracting the aromatic component and sweet and non-astringent tannins. The wine was transferred to French oak barriques where the malolactic fermentation took place first, which took place in second passage woods, and subsequently the refinement lasting about 12 months, carried out both in new and second passage woods. Bottling took place in the spring of 2021.

Historical data
La Braccesca extends over 508 hectares where the ancient farm of the Bracci counts once stood, from which the name of the estate and its coat of arms derive: an arm covered in armor holding a sword. The total area of the vineyards is 340 hectares divided into two bodies: the first, of 366 hectares of which 237 are planted with vines, is located on the border between the municipalities of Montepulciano and Cortona. The other plot, 142 hectares of which 103 are vineyards, extends as far as Montepulciano between three of the most renowned sub-areas for the production of great red wines: Cervognano, Santa Pia and Gracciano. And it is precisely from the sunniest segment of the vineyard, from one of the areas of Cortona most suited to the cultivation of quality Syrah, that Bramasole is born. A wine capable of evolving over time and narrating, according to a new variety, a territory with an ancient winemaking tradition. The first vintage of Bramasole produced was 2000.

Tasting notes
Bramasole 2019 has an intense ruby red color. The nose shows the typical aromas of the variety such as pepper, licorice and floral sensations of violet; the complex bouquet is completed by hints of vanilla, coffee, coconut accompanied by a background of spices. On the palate it is rich and elegant, characterized by velvety and soft tannins. The finish is long and persistent, characterized by a pleasant aftertaste, where the aromas of vanilla and licorice perceived by the nose return.
