Created in 1945 by Marcel Gitton with only half a hectare of vineyard, the Domaine now owns 27 hectares in the AOC Sancerre.
Pascal, son of Marcel, manages several plots in the municipalities of Sancerre and Ménétréol, which consist of soils of both limestone and silex origin (sedimentary rock composed mainly of silica). Four hectares are planted with Pinot Noir and the remaining twenty-three in Sauvignon.
The Gitton family was the first to separately vinify the various crus owned and is considered among the pioneers of the expression of the diversity of the Sancerre soils. For this reason the cuvées produced are varied. The wines we have selected are those that Pascal considers most representative and qualitatively more interesting.
To the eye it appears a beautiful intense straw yellow, to the nose it releases floral notes, exotic fruits and citrus hints.
On the palate it is full-bodied, balanced, fresh and mineral with orange aromas in the very persistent finish.
Aging: About 10 months in French oak barrels
Perfect with fish and shellfish or fresh cheeses.
Sancerre “Les Belles Dames” comes from five hectares planted in 1967-68-80 on silex soil. It is aged for 9/10 months in steel and in barrique.
